November 7, 2017 6:17 am

WCV (1)The West Central Valley Boys basketball team finished second to last in the West Central Activities Conference last season. The Wildcats are hoping the departure of five seniors won’t be a factor as they look to better their record from last season. The Wildcats finished last season with a record of 6-18.

The Wildcats will have an uphill battle as their second leading scorer, senior Rylan Heffernan, transferred to Adel-Desoto-Minburn. In his junior year Heffernan averaged a team best 12.5 points per game. Heffernan also had a team best 75.6 free throw percentage. Junior Cole Arnburg is the only returning starter from last year, as the other three graduated. The boys will begin their season at the Southwestern Community College (SWICC) Jamboree in Creston on Friday, November 24th.
