Leann JacobsenA second Democratic candidate running against Republican incumbent Steve King for Iowa’s 4th Congressional District made a campaign stop in Jefferson Tuesday night.

About 20 people attended a meet and greet event with Democratic candidate Leann Jacobsen. She retired from her position as head of government affairs with AT&T to stay in Iowa to raise her children. She started her own public policy business while in Des Moines. She then moved to Spencer eight years ago where she currently lives. Her and her husband started a wine and coffee shop and she currently serves on the Spencer City Council and is on the local hospital board.

Jacobsen talked about why she is running for the Democratic candidate in Iowa’s 4th Congressional District.

“I am running to bring people together, I am running for the people of this district, and I am running to put people over politics. I believe passionately that we need to focus on revitalizing our rural communities and creating places that our kids, our children want to come back to.”

She talked about her top priorities including: creating jobs through various industries, protecting public education and making healthcare accessible to everyone.
