The Jefferson Police Department is requesting an arrest warrant for a suspect who is allegedly involved in a burglary incident at Power Lift.

Police Chief Mark Clouse says 64-year-old Bradley Jon Vanwyk of Ames is charged with a Class D Felony for third degree burglary. He is accused of stealing several items from Power Lift. The incident happened at 2am on Saturday, November 4th. During the investigation, Clouse notes that they reviewed video surveillance footage from Power Lift and Wild Rose Casino. Investigators found out that Vanwyk was previously at the casino and upon leaving, he stopped and went into Power Lift. The casino’s video footage identified the suspect’s vehicle, which then led to the identity of the suspect.

Vanwyk stole about $1,420 in handtools, an electric grinder, a miter box and other items. Clouse says they entered Vanwyk’s name into their Leads Online program and found that he had sold the items to a pawn shop in Ames. Clouse adds that Vanwyk then took the money and spent it at the casino the following night. All of the stolen items were recovered from the pawn shop.

Once the arrest warrants are issued, Vanwyk will be arrested and booked into the Greene County jail.
