The 16th annual Perry Rotary Club Charity Auction will be held this Friday at the Elks Lodge, and the public is invited to attend the festivities.

Rotary member Dean Haaland says the auction is one of the biggest fundraisers of the year for the club, and the proceeds will go towards several causes. “The vast majority of the money we raise stays right here in Perry. Perry Rotary Club has had a long tradition of providing scholarships for our graduating seniors from Perry High School. But we also help out the community. And also a little bit of money goes to the Rotary International, which the big thing is working on eradicating polio throughout the world. We’re getting really close to accomplishing that long-time goal.”

Other local organizations the Rotary Club donates to include the Crimestoppers group, the Perry Police Officers Association, and the Chamber of Commerce Fireworks Drive. They also present civil servant and teacher of the year awards. Finally, the group gives out dictionaries to fourth graders at Perry Elementary every year.

The auction dinner will be held Friday at 5:30 p.m. The cost is $25 per person, which will get you dinner and a drink ticket. In addition to the live auction, there will also be a silent auction throughout the night. The auctions will include more than a hundred items donated by members of the community. Tickets can be purchased at Haaland Financial or from any Rotary member.
