The Perry Police Department recently announced that two of their officers had received new appointments.

Officer Laura Deaton was promoted to Investigator, while Officer Matt Aswegan was promoted to Patrol Sergeant. Deaton has been with the department for five years, and with her new title she will take over major case assignments. In a statement, the department said she has handled several large investigations in the past few months. Deaton showed a strong work ethic in that time, which prompted the promotion.

Aswegan has been with the department for just under five years, and with his promotion he will supervise the afternoon and midnight shifts. He will also continue to serve as a firearms instructor and field training officer. Police Chief Eric Vaughn was pleased to make the announcement of the promotions and believes both will serve the community well in their new duties.
