smallbusinesssaturday

Tomorrow is Thanksgiving and the day after is Black Friday, but for the local businesses in Perry the focus is on Small Business Saturday.

Held the Saturday after Thanksgiving every year, the event encourages holiday shoppers to give their local stores some business. Perry Chamber of Commerce Board member Emily Leslie says the event is an important way to put some money back into the City. “We are trying to basically bring people back into the community and make sure that they do shop local first, to support the community that they live, work, and play in. So that’s kind of the campaign around Small Business Saturday. So it’ll be a fun couple days in Perry that we really can come together as a community.”

Additionally, the City and local businesses are giving you a tool for Small Business Saturday in the form of free “Shop Small, Shop Local” bags. The bags can be picked up at Perry City Hall, the Chamber office, and the public library through today, as well as at Betsy Peterson Designs and Raccoon River Valley Bike Company during normal business hours.
