The Panorama Panthers girls basketball team is in the middle of their first full week of practice for the 2017-18 season. Panther girls basketball coach Dan Druivenga joined this week’s Karl Chevrolet of Stuart Guthrie County PM Sports Page to outline his team’s next few weeks of preparation before the start of a new season.

Druivenga admits he’s not a fan of the amount of practice time he has before the start of the season. “This is one of my biggest complaints. We have two weeks to put offenses in, defenses in, presses, press breakers, (work on) skill development, and also conditioning.” Druivenga said, “There is no time to waste in the first two weeks.”

Panorama is bringing back a lot of players who posted a 22-2 record last season. Because of the number of returners, Druvengia has scheduled more scrimmages in the first two weeks than in previous seasons to get his team in game shape early. The Panthers have their first scrimmage Saturday in Ankeny before participating in Harlan’s Jamboree on next Thursday.
