Greene County ExtensionGreene County Extension is hosting its next session in the Greene Living Series next week in Jefferson.

Extension Director Lori Mannel says their “Baking for the Holidays” event will be held at the First United Methodist Church with a special presenter.

“Our own Marianne Carlson is an award-winning baker known in the state fair, throughout Iowa and probably the Midwest. We’re going to do a ‘Make-It and Take-It.’ We’re going to learn how to make Marianne’s award-winning sweet rolls from the master herself.”

Participants must bring a large mixing bowl, a wooden mixing spoon and a 9-inch-by-13-inch baking pan. The ingredients will be mixed during the program and then participants can bake them at home.

Mannel describes why they are continuing the Greene Living Series that started in September.

“It’s kind of like 4-H for adults. So this is just kind of fun, an hour or two hour programs, have some fun with your friends and family and it’s very affordable right here in Greene County”

Next week’s program will be held from 5:30 to 7pm Tuesday, November 14th. Space is limited and the cost to attend is $15 per person. Call or stop by the Extension office to sign up.
