Perry head coach Chris Morrow reported 27 students out for girls basketball from the freshman through senior level, allowing the Jayettes to court a trio of teams this winter with freshmen, junior varsity and varsity.  Morrow has been busy recruiting students in the hallways and trying to show them the benefits of being a part of the basketball program.

“I think the biggest thing was me actually being here in the high school and simply talking to them in the hallways.  I tried to talk to as many students as I could and really get to know them and show them the benefits of playing a team sport.  Perry needs a lot more multiple sport athletes and I think this was a good start.  The next step will be to make sure they stay out for the sport and finish it.”

Perry opens the season Friday night at home against the Polar Bears of Des Moines North.
