The Perry girls basketball team will make one of their longest road trips of the season tonight when they travel to Newton for a nonconference game with the Cardinals. Perry is 1-0 while Newton is still searching for their first victory of the year. The Cardinals dropped a pair of tight games losing to PCM 55-48 and North Polk 53-37. Perry defeated Des Moines North on Friday night. Head Coach Chris Morrow was happy with his squad’s offensive production in the season opener.
“I was really pleased with the way we worked the ball around the zone. I thought our girls were moving without the basketball well and that opened up a lot of good shots from the outside. When the shots started not to fall, I thought our girls did a good job of not settling for the outside shot and trying to attack the hoop.”
Varsity tip off will begin at 7:15 tonight.
