1020194_web_habitat-for-humanity-new-logoHeart of Iowa Habitat for Humanity has finished its 2017 housing projects in Greene County.

Associate Director Jeff Lamoureux says their final project was recently completed with the help of the construction class at Greene County High School. The project was replacing a roof for a homeowner in Jefferson. Lamoureux believes it was a win for everyone to involve students.

“It’s always a good opportunity to help a homeowner. But also it gives an opportunity for the students to learn a trade and work on that roofing. It’s a good partnership and they’re invaluable to us to work with the school. We sure appreciate the school’s effort and letting us borrow their students for the project.”

With that project, Lamoureux points out the Helping Hands and Construction Club helped seven families in Greene County this year. Exterior repairs were made to homes in Jefferson, Grand Junction, Scranton and Paton.

Lamoureux adds that they are planning housing projects for 2018. Any individual or family household who would like to learn more about the application process for Habitat to possibly work on their home, can contact Lamoureux at 386-3093.
