Guthrie County Courthouse FallThe Guthrie County Board of Supervisors will meet in regular session today.

The Board will conduct a recount on city council elections in Guthrie Center and Jamaica. The recounts were prompted by citizen requests, particularly in Guthrie Center. Both Guthrie Center four-year term offices, as well as the two-year vacancy office, will be recounted. There was a small typo on the ballot in Jamaica, which caused some confusion as to votes received by certain candidates.

Josh Sebern will then address the Board on Hungry Canyons Alliance grant applications. HCA was formed to research and implement solutions to solve stream channel erosion problems in western Iowa. Sebern will also update the Board on various secondary roads projects.

The Board is expected to approve the 2018 fiscal year budget amendment and appropriate funds following a public hearing on the topic, which begins at 10 am. The Board will also seek approval on a general obligation bond from wind farm tax increment financing for a principal and interest payment due December 1st and a payment to the 2018 Region XII Housing Trust Fund grant.

The meeting begins at 9 am in the Supervisors’ Room at the Guthrie County Courthouse.
