23509284_1425103374255120_8617682685925522187_oA Smithsonian exhibit will be making its way to Iowa next summer, and Guthrie County will be one of its destinations. Guthrie Center will be hosting the “Hometown Teams: How Sports Shape America” exhibit June 23rd-August 5th, 2018 at the Mary J. Barnett Memorial Library.

The free exhibit will include memorabilia from local sports through the decades. The exhibit is part of the Museum on Main Street series and examines the roles sports play in developing society. The exhibit covers many themes, including: the home team atmosphere, sports in commerce, sports and culture, equality in sports, and the future of sports. The exhibit will make its way to Jefferson immediately following its stay in Guthrie Center from August 11th through September 23rd. Main Street Guthrie Center is currently coordinating plans to help celebrate and promote the exhibit.
