Many youth grow up dreaming of scoring a touchdown in an NFL football stadium. Adel-Desoto-Minburn graduate Jordan Grove had his childhood dream come true this fall amidst his final season for the Northwest Missouri State Bearcat football team. Grove, a fifth-year senior running back for the Bearcats, has played two career games at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City. The home of the Kansas City Chiefs has been the site of the annual Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association’s (MIAA) Fall Classic football game for the past 15 years.

The Northwest Missouri State Bearcats have been featured in the previous two Fall Classic games against the Central Missouri Mules. Grove was on the field for both contests and contributed to the scoring in this year’s game. He caught a 10-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Zach Martin for his first receiving touchdown of the season. The Raccoon Valley Radio Network was on hand for Grove’s senior day football game last Saturday at Bearcat Stadium in Maryville and he talked about his touchdown at Arrowhead.

“It was awesome. In 2016, I got to play (at Arrowhead Stadium), and that alone was an amazing experience.” Grove said, “This year, being able to get into the end zone in an NFL Stadium, that’s every little kid’s dream growing up. The type of game it was where we had to come back and win the final seconds is something I’ll never forget for the rest of my life.”

Northwest scored the go-ahead touchdown with seven seconds remaining to come away with a 24-20 victory over Central Missouri on September 30. Grove’s final collegiate regular season football game takes place this afternoon against the Missouri Western State University Griffons. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. at Spratt Stadium in St Joseph.
