All last month scarecrows lined the streets of Guthrie Center for a contest sponsored by Main Street Guthrie Center.

About a dozen businesses made their best creations for small cash prizes and bragging rights. This year Dowd Drug received the most votes on Facebook with 62. The pharmacy received $50 for their display. Cut Loose Salon came in second with 50 votes and Strawberry Patch finished in third with 47. Cut Loose and Strawberry Patch received $40 and $30 prizes respectively.

Main Street Guthrie Center Executive Director Dana Buster tells Raccoon Valley Radio that participation this year was about the same as last year. MSGC is in the midst of planning their next community-wide event, Small Business Saturday, on November 25th. A list of participating business and their vote totals can be found below:
