Dallas Co Supervisors 10-17

At the most recent meeting of the Dallas County Supervisors, they considered an agreement for fiber installation for the new law enforcement center.

Information Technologies Director Todd Noah told the Board his department had sought bids for the project and received three. The lowest responsive bidder was ABC Electrical Services, who quoted the job at $186,200. Noah said the County has worked with ABC several times in the past, including the fiber installation for the Human Services Campus north of Adel. There were some concerns from the bidders about the logistics of running the fiber under the Raccoon River which drove their prices up, but ABC didn’t share those concerns.

The fiber network will run from downtown Adel to the law enforcement center along the Raccoon River Valley Trail, with a drop off at the County Engineer’s building. Noah said they spoke with the Conservation Board about running the fiber along the trail, and after a few conditions were met, the Board agreed to the request. The Supervisors approved the contract with ABC, and work will likely begin in early spring of 2018. The funds for the project will come out of the County’s capital fund, not the bond referendum.
