The public is invited to a special event hosted by Jefferson Matters: Main Street next week.

The Celebration Stroll will allow attendees to see up-close and visit with the individuals involved in the Community Development Block Grant Downtown Revitalization project in Jefferson. The event is planned for Monday, November 13th at 5pm. The group will start at the Bell Tower Plaza, south of the courthouse and will travel around the square and end at Doc’s Stadium for light refreshments and a social time with project participants.

The $1 million construction project started this past spring with the contractor Pinnacle Construction and the architect firm Franks Design Group, working to replace the 13 downtown area building facades. City Administrator Mike Palmer says several buildings are showing dramatic change and they all have a common paint theme.

“There was a color selection available. The architect actually, they had someone on staff who made recommendations of the colors. The colors were then presented to the (building) owners and the owners got the final ‘yes’ or ‘no’ on the color scheme. It has kind of a flow through it on all of these buildings. It’s easy to point them out which ones are which, but really they are nice, striking colors.”

At the event, representatives from the contractor and architect firms will be on hand talking about each building participating. All buildings will not be completed by Monday, but JMMS wanted to provide an update to the public about the project.

The scheduled completion date is by the end of November.
