The high school cross country career of Panorama senior Josh Carstens ended over the weekend in Ankeny. Carstens was one of the athletes competing in the 2017 Senior All-Star Race at Des Moines Area Community College. To earn an invitation to the meet, an athlete must be a senior and post an average race time of 17:50 for boys and 21:50 for girls. Deyven Kemble and Brianna Hoffman also qualified for the meet but elected to not compete in the race.

Panorama head cross country coach Greg Thompson tells Raccoon Valley Radio that Carstens placed 25th out of 69 boys runners with a time of 17:09. Thompson says the time was three seconds off Carstens’ lifetime best result. He was the 21st runner to cross the finish line in the 2017 Class 1A Iowa State Boys Cross Country Meet, clocking at time of 17:05.
