StuartThe Stuart City Council will meet in regular session tonight.

The Council is nearing the three month mark of fielding presentations on the usage of the Depot. The proposals will continue with presentations from Depot Committee member Doris Bench and Warren Varley, on behalf of Project Restore. The two were challenged to come up with a proposal that would allow for the best possible utilization of the building.

The Council will then hear presentations on utility assistance, fire department updates, meeting transparency, and pet ordinances. Then the City will review the recently completed audit by Faller, Kincheloe, and Co. for the 2017 fiscal year,as well as a tax increment financing (TIF) certificate. The Council will also consider for approval a garbage contract extension, recommendations on junk properties, and the National Incident Management System (NIMS) 2018 statement of compliance.

The Council will discuss loan agreements, and the developing Wambold Phase II housing project. Incoming Council member Theresa Wright-Glass explained views on the housing project on Raccoon Valley Radio’s Guthrie County “Meet the Candidates” Forum prior to being elected. “Even though I understand that there are proponents who think that that (Wambold Addition) is a good thing, I think that maybe the money could be spent better, right now, elsewhere.”

Other action items include: hotel and motel tax fund recommendations, a proposal for an easement, various appointments to commissions and boards, and a follow-up on police wage restructuring from Mayor Dick Cook.

The meeting begins at 6:30 pm in the Council Chambers at Stuart City Hall.
