ADM Tigers

Multiple members of this year’s Adel-Desoto-Minburn (ADM) Tigers girls basketball team spent part of their weekends last month competing in a fall basketball league. ADM second-year head girls basketball coach Rick Dillinger told Raccoon Valley Radio that nine kids spent their Sunday afternoons in October playing basketball at I-35 Community Schools in Truro. The league consisted of three games lasting 25 minutes to a half hour with no score being kept. Other schools who competed in the fall basketball league include Clarke, Creston, I-35, Nodaway Valley, Ottumwa, and Seymour.

Dillinger credits his only senior, Kaylyn Nordman, for getting the team assembled. “Kaylyn did a tremendous job of actually getting the kids to play fall (basket)ball,” Dillinger said,”She was the one who took the initiative on her shoulders and said ‘I’ll get the kids to play coach’ and she did that.”

Joining Nordman in playing fall basketball last month was juniors Emma Jacobsen, Grace McCartney, Anna Kenny and Rachel Hardy, sophomores Delany Bertman, Abbie and Emily Hlas and freshman Julia Case. Dillinger was very pleased with how the girls performed in the league. “It helps because it’s right before the season (starts).” Dillinger said, “I was quite excited at how the kids played and how hard they played.”

The ADM girls basketball team begins the competition season Monday in nonconference action at Norwalk. The Raccoon Valley Radio Network will provide live play-by-play coverage of ADM girls and boys basketball games this winter on True Country, K 107.9.
