Turnovers and foul trouble proved to the be the difference in a competitive season opener Monday night for the Adel-Desoto-Minburn Tigers girls basketball team (0-1). As heard live on True Country K 107.9 and online at raccoonvalleyradio.com, the Tigers traveled to Norwalk for a nonconference tilt versus the Warriors (1-0). Trailing by two points late in the third quarter, Norwalk closed the game on a 27-14 run to overtake ADM, 52-39. The contest featured 11 total lead changes and was tied on five separate occasions. Sophomore Delaney Bertman led the way for ADM with 19 points and 10 rebounds in the setback. ADM girls basketball coach Rick Dillinger said the Tigers committed 17 turnovers in the ball game and Bertman, junior Emma Jacobsen and sophomore Abbie Hlas all fouled out in the fourth quarter.

Overall, Dillinger liked what he saw from his team in night number one. “I thought the kids did a nice job talking on defense a lot and we got on the floor .” Dillinger said, “We tried making second efforts on rebounds, and the effort was there. We shouldn’t have to coach effort, to be honest, you should expect that, and it was there (last night).”

The loss is the first of the season for the ADM Tigers girls basketball team. The squad returns to the floor tonight, hosting the Van Meter Bulldogs in their nonconference home opener. The Raccoon Valley Radio Network will provide live play by play coverage of the game on True Country K 107.9 and worldwide on raccoonvalleyradio.com and the KKRF mobile app. The Lincoln Savings Bank pregame show starts our live coverage at 7 p.m. from Adel.
