Jasmine Teed

Sources say an Adel woman has bonded out of the Dallas County Jail. Jasmine Cheyenne Teed was arrested after her children were found wandering naked near the 700 block of Highway 6 Thursday morning.

At around 9 a.m., police officers were alerted to two children wandering around the highway with no clothes on. When officers arrived, they were unable to locate the children right away. A neighbor had seen the children outside and assisted in getting them back inside their apartment. The responding officer then made contact with the 18-year-old Teed, who was asleep in a bedroom. She was arrested and charged with two counts of child endangerment, an aggravated misdemeanor. The Adel Police notified the Iowa Department of Human Services, which is investigating the case.

Adel Police Chief Gordy Shepard said in a statement that the potential for a tragic outcome was there, due to the nature of the busy highway and the cold temperatures. He said it was very fortunate the children suffered no injuries. Teed posted a $2,000 bond, and will have her preliminary hearing on November 13th. The twins and another child found in the apartment were placed in the care of close family members.
