Today in Atlantic, two vocalists from Perry High School are auditioning for All-State Choir. As if that wasn’t enough, those two and another individual will be heading to Urbandale High School on Monday for another audition.

The three singers will be auditioning to be a part of the 15th annual Iowa State University Honor Choir. The choir is led by ISU Director of Choral Activities, Dr. Jim Rodde, and he travels around the state to hand-select only around 100 participants. The students will sing a prepared solo, sight read some music, and do other vocal exercises with Rodde. One of the Perry singers auditioning is senior Breanna Penenger, who was chosen for last year’s honor choir. Penenger will be joined by junior Julia Stetzel and Sophomore Dannah Karolus at the auditions.

The students won’t know until around late November or early December if they’ve been selected to perform in the concert in February at Iowa State University.
