There’s lots of family-friendly entertainment happening in Jefferson this Thursday.

From 4 to 5pm, all youth are invited to free Halloween-themed games and activities at the Greene County Community Center. Jefferson Parks and Rec Director Vicky Lautner says kids can enjoy a pumpkin toss, decorate a pumpkin to take home, play a gravestone toss game, plus several new games. Kids will also receive candy at the rec center. Pre-registration begins at 3:45pm, for chances to win other prizes.

The Jefferson Public Library is then putting on their annual show of “Jack and the Beanstalk” in the basement of the library from 5 to 7pm. Kids can also enter drawings for prizes and receive candy. Children’s Librarian Terry Clark talks about the actors and actresses involved in the skit.

“We have invited folks from the community to be a part of our skit. It’s really fun to bring a book to life for the boys and girls, and members of our community. And the folks that come and participate really have a fun time. I think they have just as much fun watching the kids as the kids have watching them.”

Finally, Greene County Chamber and Tourism members are invited to the downtown square in Jefferson for the Trick or Treat Around the Square event from 5 to 6pm. Chamber Tourism and Events Coordinator Michael Reese says it’s a great opportunity for Chamber members to get involved.

“Well it’s one of those good community outreach type of events where everybody likes Halloween, everyone likes to see kids dressed up and have a safe environment for them and be able to come out and just have a good community event and make some kids happy.”

All activities Thursday in Jefferson are free and open to the public.
