Greene County was a high school volleyball winner on Monday night at Perry in the final match of the regular season for the Rams. The non-conference tilt went four sets by scores of 21-25, 25-21, 25-21, 25-18. Coach Donna Carhill’s team is 7-26 while the Jayettes fell to 5-22.

“This was a great way to end the season. We lost a bit of momentum in the first game, but bounced back in the second and third. We started behind in game four, but played sold and finished strong to win the match,” said the Greene County coach.

Megan Durbin led in kills with 22 and in digs with 28. Chantel Flack was 13 of 13 serving and she collected 25 digs. Sophia Havens went 19 of 21 serving with four aces, and Kaitlyn McColley was 18 of 19 from the service line with three aces. Samantha Hardaway had nine kills and Aubrey Heupel was the assists leader with 35.

The Rams practice today, then enter Class 3A Region 2 action in Story City tomorrow night at 7 vs. Roland-Story.

Paton-Churdan plays tonight at 7 in Newell vs. Newell-Fonda to open Class 1A Region 3 play.
