Friday’s final football game for the Panorama Panthers (3-6 overall) developed a lot like their season unfolded.The Panthers welcomed the West Central Valley Wildcats (3-6 overall) to Panora for a battle of Guthrie County teams. West Central Valley scored 26 unanswered points for their first win over Panorama in a decade, 26-14.

After a scoreless first quarter, Panorama started the scoring off with a pair of touchdowns in the second. Quarterback Luke South ran in from 13 yards out to get the Panthers on the scoreboard. The lead increased later in the quarter on a four-yard pass from South to Blaine Barber. South finished the game with 171 yards of total offense, while Barber concluded his high school career with 54 receiving yards.

West Central Valley’s comeback began with a 70-yard touchdown connection between Carson Waddle and Cole Arnburg. The Wildcats nearly evened the game before halftime on a 41-yard touchdown run from Brock Wolfe, but the extra point was missed, bring the score to 14-13 at the break. Waddle and Arnburg would give West Central Valley the lead for good on a 35-yard touchdown reception in the third quarter. Waddle iced the game in the fourth quarter with a 16-yard touchdown run. West Central Valley gets their first win in the series since defeating Panorama 9-0 in Stuart on September 7, 2007.

After winning three of their first four games, Panorama closes with five straight losses for a 3-6 overall record. The win improves West Central Valley’s record to 3-6.
