Connection Map

Dallas County Conservation is one step closer to having all the funding they need for the “Let’s Connect” project after receiving a $366,000 grant.

Conservation Director Mike Wallace recently announced the project had received approval for a State Recreational Trails grant from the Iowa Department of Transportation. “Let’s Connect” will bridge the nine-mile gap between the Raccoon River Valley Trail in Perry and the High Trestle Trail in Woodward. The first phase of the construction is expected to cost $5 million, and to date the County has raised around $2 million. Wallace indicated they have several more grants they are applying for, as well as multiple fundraisers planned to make the project a reality. Construction is expected to start some time in 2018.
