A Greene County High School senior recently qualified for the Iowa High School Coed State Cross-Country Championships.

Haley Hall finished 12th at the qualifying meet at Lake City Thursday. She is the first state cross country qualifier for Greene County in four years. To individually qualify for state, runners must finish in the top 15 at their qualifier. The top three teams also qualify. The girls team placed fifth overall at the meet. Hall talks about her initial reaction when she found out she qualified for the state meet.

“I was dying after the race, but I was super happy that I had qualified. It puts it into perspective all the pain and the misery you went through with hard practices and hard races. It made me feel proud of everything that I have accomplished to where I’ve been up early mornings and late nights with homework so I can practice.”

The state meet will take place Saturday, October 28th at the Lakeside Municipal Golf Course in Fort Dodge.
