WCV (1)The West Central Valley volleyball team was close to winning their first set of the season against rival ACGC last Tuesday. Although they lost that match, they carried that momentum into their game last Thursday on the road against the I-35 Lady Roadrunners. The Lady Wildcats lost their 11th of the season, but took the game to five sets, losing 25-10, 21-25, 25-16, 18-25, and 10-15. The Wildcats have now lost 15 consecutive matches, but recorded a set win for the first time since late last season.

Sophomore Jenna Merical led the team with a well-rounded performance of seven aces, six kills, three digs, and a block. Junior Abigail Speichinger added a season high 20 assists, and fellow junior Haley Nizzi recorded 11 digs.

The Lady Roadrunners were led by junior Kate Stanley and sophomore Reanna Hubbard. Stanley also posted a season high in assists with 32, to go along with nine digs, five aces, and a block. Hubbard led I-35 with eight kills, eight blocks, and two digs. This is the first win of the season for the Lady Roadrunners.

The Wildcats will look to break the losing streak tonight in Stuart against the Earlham Lady Cardinals.
