acgcThe Chargers and Trojans both enter week five of Iowa high school football with a 1-3 record and are looking to climb out of the cellar in District 1A-7. The two sides will square off tomorrow night in Neola.

The Charger defense will have to tackle another prolific rusher in Trojan senior running back Ben Sorensen. Sorensen is second in the district in rushing with 561 yards, along with 9 touchdowns. Fortunately for the Chargers, the Trojan offense has been limited to just the run, as sophomore quarterback Bryson Freeburg has only 200 yards passing and one touchdown, along with one interception. The leading receiver, junior Tanner Nelson has just 94 yards and that one touchdown. The Trojans are averaging just over 16 points per game, which is sixth best in the district.

This may finally be the opportunity for Charger signal caller Bryce Littler to take command. Littler has certainly created more offensive variety of the two QBs, but he still has just two passing touchdowns, and none in the last two games. ACGC Head Football Coach Mark McDermott did note that Littler was excelling more in his ability to read defensive coverage and pressure at the line of scrimmage. McDermott also noted that senior utility man Cole Boyer played well enough last week against ASHTW to continue getting some reps at running back. Although Logan Brinks will return in some normalcy to the position.

Kickoff is at 7pm in Neola, streaming live on KKRF2.
