The Dallas County Sheriff’s office responded Wednesday morning to a single-vehicle wreck near the border of Guthrie County.

According to the crash report, the incident happened at 10:30 a.m. in the 1000 block of Highway 44 north of Linden and east of Panora. The driver, 19-year-old Abraham Stubbs of Waukee, was travelling westbound when he fell asleep at the wheel and went off the side of the road. His truck rolled before coming to a stop in the north ditch. A passenger was able to get out of the vehicle, but Stubbs was trapped and needed to be extricated from the truck. He was awake and speaking when rescue crews pulled him from the vehicle.

The passenger was taken by Panora Emergency Medical Services to the Guthrie County Hospital with minor injuries. Stubbs was flown by LifeFlight to Methodist Hospital in Des Moines with serious injuries. His current condition is unknown.
