A West Des Moines man charged with sexual abuse in Perry has reached a plea agreement with Dallas County prosecutors.

According to court documents, 22-year-old Jesse Donavon Taggart recently changed his plea to guilty, in exchange for a lesser charge. He was originally charged on three counts, including: second degree sexual abuse, a class B felony; indecent exposure, an aggravated misdemeanor; and dissemination of obscene material to a minor, an aggravated misdemeanor. With the plea agreement, he is now being charged with one count of lascivious acts with a child, a class C felony.

The charge stem from a complaint made on May 31st of an alleged sexual assault that involved a minor in Perry. After an investigation, the Perry Police Department found probable cause to charge Taggart with assaulting a female victim under the age of 12. Reports said he committed a sex act upon the victim, along with exposing himself to her and showing her obscene material.

He is currently being held in the Dallas County Jail awaiting his sentencing hearing, which is scheduled for October 27th at 9 a.m.
