Ray Trials to be Delayed Until Likely 2018

September 11, 2017 4:17 pm

A court order released last Friday indicated the trial dates for the suspects in the Sabrina Ray death case will likely be moved to the next calendar year.

The trial for the five individuals charged in connection to the Perry teen’s death was scheduled to commence on October 30th. However, after an informal status and scheduling conference was held Friday, it was revealed the compilation of evidence and depositions will likely delay the trial until some time in 2018. The reasons for the delay include: the discovery documents being provided to the defense attorneys contains several thousand pages, which will take a lengthy time to fully review; multiple depositions must still be completed; and three of the depositions will be from minor children, so special protocols will be needed to conduct them.

Marc, Misty, and Justin Ray, as well as Carla and Josie Bousman, all of Perry, are each being charged in connection to the May 12th death of Sabrina, the adoptive daughter of Marc and Misty. The 16-year-old Sabrina was found dead in their home and the State Medical Examiner determined she died of severe malnutrition and abuse. She weighed 56 pounds at the time of her death. See below for a full list of charges for each suspect.
