The halfway point of the high school football regular season will come and go tomorrow night for the Greene County Rams. Coach Mitch Moore’s team is 0-4 overall and 0-2 in Class 3A District 2 before playing Iowa Falls-Alden tomorrow night in Iowa Falls. The Cadets have already played five games and stand at 1-4 overall and 0-2 in the district.

The Rams’ first four opponents are a combined 14-2 while the Cadets first five opponents have a combined 9-12 record. Even though the Rams lost last week at home to unbeaten and fifth ranked Webster City, Greene County had its best night of the season running the football with 202 rushing yards. Quarterback Clint Dennhardt ran for 109 and running back Colby Kafer added 94 yards on the ground and both figures are career highs.

Head Coach Mitch Moore acknowledged the improvement on the ground as well as it not being early in the season anymore. “I told our sophomores they need to start to grow up. Client and Colby and those guys started to grow up a little bit late in the second quarter and on into the second half against Webster City. Our run game became more effective and we hope to use some of that run game. We still need to work on our urgency and our tempo. If we can get a good run game with some good urgency and some good tempo, and catch the ball on the edge, we can see this offense being what we eventually want it to be. It excites me!”

The varsity game is IF-A’s homecoming contest and we’ll broadcast on KG98 and www.raccoonvalleyradio.com with coverage at 6:30 p.m. and kickoff at 7:30 p.m.
