A look at the 2017 Iowa high school cross-country enrollments shows Greene County has dropped from Class 3A to 2A. The Rams have bounced between the two classes for several years and they’ve been assigned to 3A the previous two seasons.

The enrollment figure used by state officials for Greene County is 287 students, which puts the Rams with the sixth largest 2A enrollment. West Liberty has the largest enrollment for a 2A cross-country program at 302.

There are four classes of cross-country in Iowa high schools. State Qualifying Meets are set for Thursday, October 20 at various sites around the state. Assignments haven’t gone out yet for the postseason, but host sites for the State Qualifying Meets have been posted and the closest 2A site for the Rams is Lake City with South Central Calhoun as the host school.
