Coming off the first victory of the 2017 high school football season, the Greene County Rams will host Boone on Friday night for Homecoming. Coach Mitch Moore’s team overcame a slow start last Friday and rolled to a 61-21 Class 3A District 2 win in Iowa Falls over Iowa Falls-Alden. The win was the first as a head coach for Coach Moore and the Rams improved to 1-4 overall and 1-2 in district play while the Cadets fell to 1-5 and 0-3.

IF-A led 14-0 early in the second quarter before the Rams got the offense rolling. Greene County finished with 600 yards of offense and nine touchdowns. Sophomore running back Colby Kafer had 285 rushing yards on 19 carries, four of which went for touchdowns. Junior quarterback Clint Dennhardt added 89 rushing yards and three TDs on the ground, plus he threw a 16 yard touchdown pass to Trey Hinote, who caught 10 passes for 118 yards.

The game was tied 21-21 at halftime and the Rams dominated the second half. Coach Moore told Raccoon Valley Radio he was very happy for the players and members of his coaching staff. “They’ve worked so hard ever since last March. They deserve to enjoy this!”

Next up is the third top 10 rated team the Rams will face in the last four weeks in the Boone Toreadors (5-0, 3-0). Of the first six games on the schedule, only IF-A has more than one loss on the season. Two weeks ago, Boone shut out IF-A 35-0. Friday’s Homecoming game can be heard on KG98 and streamed on www.raccoonvalleyradio.com with coverage at 6:30 p.m. and kickoff at 7:30 p.m.
