Greene County SheriffThe Greene County Sheriff’s office had a busy Monday responding to three single vehicle accidents in less than two hours.

The first crash was reported just before 3:30pm on 330th Street near D Avenue. Twenty-eight-year-old Israel Wiles of Coon Rapids was turning onto D Avenue when the shoulder of the road gave way, causing his 2000 Chevrolet Express van to roll onto its side in the ditch. The vehicle sustained $3,000 in damages and Wiles was uninjured.

The second accident happened around 4:15pm on U Avenue just south of Dana. Seventy-two-year-old Carol Dejong of Belle Plaine was traveling south on U Avenue when she lost control of her 2010 Buick Enclave as it entered the west ditch, struck a culvert and came to rest on a field drive. Dejong was transported by Greene County Emergency Medical Services to Greene County Medical Center for minor injuries. The Enclave had $4,000 damage and Dejong was cited for failure to maintain control. Grand Junction Fire and Rescue assisted at the scene.

The last incident was at 5pm on V Avenue and 250th Street. Twenty-three-year-old Dustin Rusberg of Humboldt had swerved to miss hitting a deer and his 2000 Grand Prix entered the ditch and sustained minor damage. Rusberg was uninjured in the accident.
