A fire destroyed three out buildings in northern Greene County.

Greene County Sheriff Jack Williams says just before 2:30pm Thursday, a deputy, Iowa State Patrol, Paton Fire Department and Greene County Emergency Medical Services responded to the fire at 1497 110th Street, north of Churdan. Williams tells Raccoon Valley Radio no one was home at the time of the fire and a United States Postal Carrier reported the incident.DSCN6971

Three out buildings were destroyed in a matter of minutes. Various items were lost in the fire. However, Williams notes the direction of the wind and the quick response by the Paton Fire Department, the fire was contained to three buildings and didn’t consume any other nearby structures. No one was hurt in the incident. Williams says due to the buildings burning so quickly, no cause was determined, but he is calling it accidental in nature.

According to the Greene County Assessor’s website, the home is owned by Corinne Bancroft.
