Seniors of the Adel-Desoto-Minburn Tigers volleyball team (10-3 overall; 3-0 RRC) were quick to credit their conditioning for Tuesday’s come-from-behind victory against the Ballard Bombers (6-6 overall; 3-1 RRC). ADM stayed undefeated in Raccoon River Conference action despite dropping the first two games to the Bombers (22-25 and 17-25). The Tigers won the next three games (25-21, 25-16, 17-15), winning the match in five sets.

Amy Gottschalk was the first to point out practice habits as a key to Tuesday’s comeback. “We also have to thank Coach Scott for conditioning us because it honestly helped push us through,” Gottschalk said, “Even though a lot of us were sick and injured this week, we still kept it up and bounced back in the game.”

Elle Mueller says the conditioning is hard and takes place any time the Tigers aren’t giving maximum effort in practice. “You go for everything, and if you don’t, you run.” Mueller said,”So we run a lot when we don’t have the best practices.

While it’s not the most pleasant thing, Sami Schepers acknowledges the tough love Coach Scott puts them through in practice. “We hate the conditioning during it, but it’s games like this that we appreciate it.” Schepers said, “We have to think about this game the next time we are running those laps.”

The ADM Volleyball team is back on the practice floor tonight preparing for this weekend’s Dubuque Invite hosted at Hempstead High School.
