Panorama 2It’s a busy Thursday on the line today for Panorama athletics as volleyball and cross country programs will find themselves in action on the road.

The day’s action starts off in Perry where Lady Panther volleyball will end off the week tournament style beginning at 4:30 pm. Head coach Renae Follmuth and the Lady Panthers will be one of three West Central Activities Conference teams and one of 7 total teams heading to the Perry Sports Pavilion. The entire field consists of conference foes Earlham and Ogden, Coon Rapids-Bayard, Dallas Center-Grimes and Raccoon River Conference opponents Carlisle along with host Perry. Panorama will be looking to break their current 3 game loosing skid starting at 4:30 in Perry.

Head coach Greg Thompson and the Panther cross country teams will also be in action taking on some fierce competition in Jefferson. The field will be comprised of 27 total teams and is broken up into 1A, 2A, and 3A schools. Both Panther squads will be one of 18 total 1A teams in action with both sides bringing plenty of ranked teams to the table.

On the girls side, the Lady Panthers enter as the 10th ranked team in class 1A and they will be going up against strong competition such as 8th ranked Baxter and cross country rival ACGC. The Lady Panthers come off a great meet in Menlo last week where they placed first behind 6 medalists and set a school record at the 5 x 80 golf course.

The Panther boys also stroll into Spring Lake Park as a ranked team currently 13th in class 1A. As competitive as the girls side will be, the Panther boys find themselves in a loaded field themselves involving 15th ranked ACGC, 9th ranked Ogden, along with class 2A’s 5th ranked South Hamilton and 9th ranked Roland-Story.

Today’s cross country meet will be held at Spring Lake Park and will start with JV boys and girls teams at 4:30, followed by class 1A girls varsity action at 4:50, Class 2A girls varsity at 5:30 pm, Class 1A boys varsity at 6:10 pm and Class 2A boys varsity at 6:40 pm.
