After a pair of unfortunate starts to being the 2017 season, head coach Renae Follmuth and the Panorama volleyball team picked up their first wins in the Coon Rapids-Bayard tournament Saturday.

Panorama volleyball was up against a five team field including AHSTW, Atlantic, Paton-Churdan, CAM, and host Coon Rapids-Bayard. At the end of a long weekend affair, Panorama took two wins and three losses from Coon Rapids. The losses for the Lady Panthers came against Atlantic, CAM, and host Coon Rapids-Bayard by 2-0 margins. The pair of wins for Panorama were delivered against AHSTW and Paton-Churdan.

The victory over AHSTW came in two sets 21-15 and 21-14 and was a true team win with Brook Halterman leading in kills with 3, Kennedy Kuta with 6 assists and 4 aces and Olivia Richey with 6 digs. Panorama’s win against Paton-Churdan came in more dramatic fashion after the Rockets matched Panorama’s 21-15 set one win with a 21-17 win of their own in set two. The Lady Panthers would prevail for the win in set three by a 15-10 decision. Morgan Johnk led the attack in kills with 8 for the match while most of the offense was facilitated by Kennedy Kuta with 12 of the team’s 18 assists to go along with four digs and one ace.

The weekend tournament now rests Panorama’s record at 2-5, just three wins short of matching last year’s win total. The next event on the docket for the Lady Panthers will come tomorrow back at home for the second time in 2017 and they will be taking on conference foe Ogden, beginning at 7:00 pm.
