ADM

Offensive output had been hard to come by for the Adel-Desoto-Minburn Tigers football team (1-3 overall; 0-2 Class 3A District 7) before last week. The Tigers entered their homecoming game against Carroll scoring 20 points total in the first three weeks. Last week, ADM complied a season-best 262 yards of total offense and two touchdowns in a 17-14 setback. ADM possessed the football with under four minutes left in the game but turned the ball over on downs with 67 seconds remaining. The Tigers will look to build on the performance when they hit the road this week for a matchup against the Harlan Cyclones (3-1 overall; 2-0 Class 3A District 7).

Harlan enters tonight’s game winners of their last three games, including a 17-14 triumph last week over the Glenwood Rams. The Cyclones are currently in a three-way tie for the top spot in Class 3A District 7 and are considered early favorites to win the district. ADM head coach Mike Whisner doesn’t mind playing the role of the underdog in this matchup. “It doesn’t look favorable for us, but Carroll didn’t either,” Whisner said, “The thing is we have to bring our A-game and have to counter the things they do (well). Do you stop a team like that? No. For example, last year (versus Harlan) we scored 35, and they had 58. It was a crazy game, both teams scored, and we’d like to bust out and make some plays and score some points (tonight). ”

The Tigers’ defense will try to contain Harlan running back Nick Foss, who leads Class 3A District 7 with 624 rushing yards and 10 touchdowns. ADM allowed 323 rushing yards collective to Carroll last week.
