The Voas Earth Science Museum near Minburn used to be a popular destination in Dallas County, though its attendance waned over the recent years. As such, it is only opened a few times every year, and the next occasion will be tomorrow.

From 1-4 p.m. the museum will be open to the public, featuring national museum-quality exhibits. Forest Park Museum Curator Pete Malmberg feels the museum is a great experience for visitors, even though it’s not open as much as he’d like. “It’s an under-utilized museum. It’s becoming more of a youth education center for earth science. That’s what we’ve kind of transformed it to, and it’s doing well with that component of its theme down there.”

While the Voas Museum is only open a few Sundays every year, Malmberg says it’s also available for tours by appointment. He encourages any family or school groups to reach out to him to set up an event if they’re interested.
