An early morning incident at Lake Red Rock resulted in the arrest of a Dallas Center man.

As first reported by KNIA/KRLS News, at around 2:30 a.m. Saturday morning, the Marion County Sheriff’s Office was called to the Elk Rock State Park campground for a report of a man with a gun. According to the sheriff’s report, 21-year-old Joshua Keubler of Dallas Center reportedly got into a verbal altercation with another campsite and retrieved a gun from his vehicle. He was then confronted by members of his party and a neighboring campsite, and during the altercation a woman was shot in the leg. She was transported from the scene and later airlifted to a Des Moines area hospital with non life-threatening injuries.

Officers arrested Keubler on charges including: going armed with intent, a class D felony; first degree harassment, an aggravated misdemeanor; possession/carrying weapons while intoxicated, a serious misdemeanor; public intoxication, a simple misdemeanor; and possession of a firearm in a state park, a simple misdemeanor. He was taken to the Marion County Jail. He was given a $21,000 bond, which was posted, and was released. He is scheduled to appear in the Marion County Courthouse for a preliminary hearing on August 10th at 9:30 a.m.

The Iowa Department of Natural Resources and Knoxville Fire and Rescue assisted the sheriff’s office at the scene. Raccoon Valley Radio will have more information as it’s made official.
