JPRD Board 8_16The Jefferson Parks and Recreation Board met Wednesday in regular session.

Director Vicky Lautner announced they received funds from People Active in Community Exercise (PACE) to help purchase an HVAC unit, a gym divider curtain and partitioners for the restrooms at the Greene County Community Center. Payment for half will be from PACE, with the other half from the hotel/motel tax funds the parks and rec department automatically receives.

The Board then discussed the frisbee golf course at Daubendiek Park. Lautner estimated the cost to create a frisbee golf course was going to be $10,000. She told the Board that she will apply for grants for the project.

Finally, the Board discussed the swimming pool. Lautner said the new security camera and surveillance system is now in place at the pool, and there’s an alarm both inside and outside of the pool area that can be set off by motion sensors. She also told the Board that ACCO has the paint chip samples to test in order to find out why they broke off of the bottom of the pool earlier this summer.
