As week number two of official fall practice moves along, John Jones will be entertaining his second week at the helm coaching West Central Valley volleyball.

As coach Jones enters his 9th year of coaching volleyball, he will aim to revitalize a Wildcat squad that has produced one winning season in the last five years. The path for coach Jones and the Lady Wildcats will be a challenging one after loosing last year’s leaders in Kills, Digs, Aces, and Blocks.

Regardless of the challenge coach Jones is ready to help this team improve and as he mentioned to Raccoon Valley Radio, his primary goal and motivation this season is to build success within the program.

“Well for me it will be…what’s success? John Wooden once said just because you won a bunch of games doesn’t mean you were necessarily successful. So looking at that, we’re looking at making progress whether we win or loose from being successful from what we’ve done in practice of the previous night or previous few days so that’s been my motivation,” explained coach Jones.

Now with every coin there are two sides and despite loosing some key pieces, the Lady Wildcats do retain some strong pieces and wield solid potential as coach Jones mentioned to Raccoon Valley Radio.

“I do see some potential if we can develop some of these kids to hit. We have a really good setter coming in that I’ve enjoyed working with so there’s some upswing but again, we just need to take it step by step and look for success and build on that whether it’s one thing or five,” mentioned coach Jones.

Coach Jones and the Lady Wildcats will look to put all the early work on display with the West Central Activities Conference scrimmage today in Woodward.
