Perry-Chamber

This is set to be a busy weekend in Perry, with two big events both starting today.

The 15th Annual Highway 141 Garage Sale is today and tomorrow starting at 8 a.m., and the annual Perry Cruise Car Show starts at 6 p.m. The garage sale involves cities all along the 177 miles of the highway from Grimes to Sloan. Perry Chamber of Commerce Director Bob Wilson says it’s a crazy event, but also fun and a great way to sell people on the City. “Get out there and take advantage, and be an ambassador. You’re at the grocery store, or you’re at the gas station, whatever it is, if there’s someone that has a question, sell Perry. Help them out, tell them wherever they need to go, welcome them, tell them to come back more often. And that’s what I think an opportunity is with these events, is to be an ambassador.”

The Perry Cruise Show will start at 6 p.m. and will take over 2nd and Warford streets in the downtown area. Wilson says while it’s been a lot of work for the Chamber, they make it easy for participants and attendees alike. “We’re going to be as hassle-free as possible. If you haven’t been in a car show, maybe this is your first car show, just meet us on Warford (Street) between 1st and 2nd streets. We’ll have a tent there. There is a $10 entry fee that goes to Relay for Life. No pre-registration needed, we’re good to go, just come on down. If you’re a resident, what better thing to do on a Friday night than just hang out in your downtown and have a gander at some beautiful cars? So there’s no excuse not to, and we’ll see you there!”

Additionally, Wilson reminds people to be careful because there will be a lot more people around the City due to both events. The Raccoon Valley Radio Big Red Radio will be broadcasting live at the Perry Cruise Show from 6-8 p.m. To hear more from Wilson, listen to today’s Perry Fareway Let’s Talk Dallas County program at RaccoonValleyRadio.com.
