A reminder for Jefferson residents that today homeowners can get rid of hazardous materials for free.
The annual hazardous waste drop-off event is taking place on the north side of the courthouse on State Street. Some of the accepted items include: antifreeze, fluorescent light bulbs, pesticides, oil and lead-based paints and more. Items that won’t be accepted include: ammunition, asbestos, electronics, explosives, fire extinguishers, latex paint, medications, propane tanks and radioactive materials.
The event will be held from 9 to 11am. Metro Waste Authority partners with the City of Jefferson for the free event.
