The Guthrie Center City Council met in regular session Monday.

The City received approval from the Iowa Department of Transportation  to place a speed tracker sign near 12th St on Highway 44. A nuisance report was also discussed by the Council. Nuisance Officer Wes Clark said he filed 27 nuisance notices on Monday alone and city crews cleaned up two properties last week. The Council  urged citizens to keep their properties neat and tidy.

The City  is also looking for prospective individuals or groups to rent out an empty office in City Hall.  The cost is $350 per month, which includes utilities, other than phone and internet access.  There is also the possibility of additional rental space in the basement.  Leases can be obtained at City Hall and are subject to council approval.

The Council would also like to remind the public that the aquatic center will close for the season today.  It will be open from 1-5 pm.
