Through a series of donations and grants, the Greene County Freedom Rock Park has seen some recent improvements.

Committee member Dawn Rudolph says they installed a new sidewalk around the freedom rock, installed three flag poles behind it, and added additional whiterock. She points out a challenge that the committee hadn’t planned on while making improvements to the park.

“As we put the flag poles in and the sidewalk in, some of our plans did change a little bit with how things laid out. With the old elevator there, there was some old scales that were buried underneath. So we kind of had to tweak things a little bit. But we’re getting back on track and moving forward.”

Rudolph adds that other aspects the committee wants to install this year include: a bench, a garbage receptacle, lighting and a kiosk to tell people what is on the freedom rock.
